“A Bible OverView” (ABOV) is a big picture look at history from the Creator's perspective. It follows twelve Biblical themes presented in 12 video sessions that are easy to view with thought provoking questions.
The Bible is a hope story. It’s the story of God’s redemptive mission. The Bible overview reveals who God is, defines who we are, explains the meaning and purpose of life, discloses the greatest of humanity’s problems -sin- and directs us to the hope of God’s amazing grace. The Bible deals with the realities of this broken world so we can make sense of our lives, find peace with God, within ourselves, and with others.
To share God’s Word in an easy to understand format that is freely available.
The study starts with an Introduction to the Bible. Sessions 1-6 cover the Old Testament and Sessions 7-12 cover the New Testament. The sessions are separated into topics so that the student or the study facilitator may easily stop and start the presentation to consider the questions.
A narrator reads and discusses Scripture while it is shown on the screen. The New International Version (NIV) is the predominate translation utilizing other translations when appropriate.
The 12 video sessions are located on the Video Session page. Session Resources are downloadable pdfs that include a Student Handout for note taking, Themes and other charts, and Information Papers.
“A Bible OverView” (ABOV) may be mirrored from your computer, pad or phone to a large screen or shared via zoom. Besides the Session resources, there is a complete script of each session available under Facilitator Resources with answers for the interspersed questions.
If you facilitate a group study, you should study and know the material well. This includes viewing all the videos to get the big picture and to become comfortable with the themes. Each account has been chosen to show the Bible’s main storyline.
